The Blue Ridge Hotshots

Superintendent Brian Frisby accepted the engraved Pulaski award for the Blue Ridge Hotshots.

They were nominated for this award because of their invaluable service to Wildland Fire throughout the country.

Greg Smith: 2014 SW Firefighter of the Year

Greg was instrumental in establishing the Ironwood Hotshots from Northwest Fire in Tucson. He has been their Superintendent since its inception and they have never received anything less than excellent performance ratings. Greg's commitment to excellence is evident in all that he does and he demands the same commitment from his crew.

Gary Cordes: 2013 SW Firefighter of the Year

Gary Cordes was awarded the 2013 Southwest Wildland Firefighter of the Year. Gary the training Officer for Central Yavapai Fire District was nominated for demonstrating the characteristics needed to be Firefighter of the Year during the Yarnell Hill Fire, when he selflessly went into a threatened housing area and saved the lives of at least 4 elderly people that could not escape on their own. He definitely demonstrates Leadership, Duty, Respect, Integrity and Community Service in all that he does. Congratulations Gary!

The first ever Southwest Wildland Firefighter of the Year Award went to Scott Glaspie

Scott Glaspie: 2012 SW Firefighter of the Year

The first ever Southwest Wildland Firefighter of the Year Award went to Coronado National Forest Assistant District Fire Management Officer - Scott Glaspie. Scott was nominated by Kristie Lund the Fire Staff Officer at the Coronado National Forest after Scott demonstrated the characteristics needed to be Firefighter of the Year: Leadership, Duty, Respect, Integrity and Community Service.
