Initial Attack Incident Commander
This course is designed to meet the training needs of the Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT4). It is presented in a discussion/exercise format. The six instructional units include: Foundation Skills; Intelligence Gathering and Documentation; Size Up the Incident; Develop a Plan of Action; Post-fire Activities; Evaluating Incident Objectives and Manage the Incident. Evaluation of the student is by unit tests and performance based evaluations.
This course will involve both individual and group exercises. S-200 is also heavily simulation based, so be ready to fill different roles as needed.

Review the S-200 Acceptance Letter
There are 3 parts of the pre work for this course:
1 - Watch the film Apollo 13 and record your thoughts on leadership lessons in the film. Use the S-200 pre-work guide from the Wildland Fire Learning Portal to assist you. Please come to the course ready to share your observations.
2 - Read the DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY for the Boise BLM Field Office.
3 - Your definition of “Effective Leadership” and at least 3 traits of an effective leader. Be ready to answer these questions:
o What is the definition of EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP?
o What is the purpose (END STATE) of EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP?
